Heal from Painful Life Experiences with
Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)

What is ART?

Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) is a form of therapy that utilizes eye movements combined with Voluntary Memory/ Image Replacement that work to reprogram the way in which distressing images and memories are stored in the brain. ART simulates the same type of brain activity that occurs during the R.E.M. stage of sleep.  ART has been shown to facilitate new patterns of thought and behaviour.

Big T and little t trauma

ART has been shown to be helpful with all types of trauma, both recent and childhood traumas such as physical violence, abuse, or the sudden loss of a loved one (Big T) or bullying, parental divorce or relationship breakups (little t) for example. Trauma is not what happens to us, but how how our nervous systems reacts to events and how that gets imprinted into our mind and body.

How long does it take to see results?
Many people will experience significant relief from their symptoms after only one session. On average, ART resolves the presenting problem in two to five sessions, depending on the severity and complexity of the problem. Clients may wish to continue with ART therapy to resolve other issues, or follow-up with traditional talk therapy.

Evidence-Based
ART is officially recognized by the National Registry of Evidence Based Programs and Practices (NREPP ) as an effective psychotherapy for trauma, depression, stress, and personal resilience. ART was also classified as a promising therapy for symptoms of phobia, panic, anxiety, sleep disorders, disruptive and antisocial behaviours, general functioning and well-being.

What can I expect?

Although some traumatic experiences can be very painful to think about or visualize, the therapy rapidly moves clients beyond the place where they are stuck in these experiences toward growth and positive changes. The end result is that traumas and difficult life experiences will no longer trigger strong emotions or physical reactions.  It is important to note that clients do not have to talk about their traumas or difficult life experiences with the therapist to achieve recovery.

How much does it cost?
ART sessions are $220 and usually take 1.5 hours each. Follow-up sessions often take less time.
